About
Black Women's Roundtable Virginia
The Black Women’s Roundtable Virginia (BWR VA) aims to increase civic engagement and advocate for a community in which Black women and girls thrive in Virginia. BWR VA is convened by Vote Lead Impact, an organization which has over 15 years' experience in mentoring, training, networking and tracking advocacy and non partisan political engagement among African Americans. Our work builds on the successful collaborations that have occurred in Northern Virginia through the NOVA Coalition, which was first convened in 2008 by community leaders Lavern Chatman, Nancy Finley Barbour, and Krysta Jones, as a diverse coalition of civic and faith organizations focused on voter engagement.
The Black Women's Roundtable serves as the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation’s intergenerational leadership development, mentoring, empowerment and power building arm for Black women and girls. The BWR is at the forefront of championing justice and equitable public policies that center racial, economic and gender justice to promote health and wellness, economic security & prosperity, education and global empowerment as key elements of success.
We believe all women can embrace who they are,
can define their future, and can change the world.
